Drapery Styles...Ripple fold Curtains

By far the most popular style of drapery coming out of our shop these days is the contemporary ripplefold.

A very clean approach to drapery that does away with all the fuss and muss of pleating and or gathering. Ripplefolds are selected for contemporary or modern interiors where cleanliness of line is desired. The benefits of the ripplefold are numerous; aesthetically speaking they are my favorite and cleanest style, functionally they are silky smooth to operate and have the strongest hanging mechanisms of any curtain, technically they are easier to fabricate and require less material and acoustically they act as a vertical baffle, trapping sound both in front of and behind the curtain.
Ripplefolds work well in drapier cloths such as wool, linens, sheers, but also lend themselves to structured fabrics like felt or heavy cottons. They like a nice clean line so it is best to avoid thick and bulky materials. Having said that, the example below was made up in a very thick velvet, each curtain weighing over 80 lbs, seems to have worked quite well, but that might be because we know what we are doing!

Lining the ripplefold curtain can be done in blackout, interlining, cotton or even sheer.
