Curtain Wall....

Two years ago we were commissioned to produce window coverings for a home in Sunny Tsawasssen... a modern remodel of an amazing home. One awesome feature of the rennovation was the addition of a Nana Wall (if you don't know what that is just look it up). These are very interesting, but challenging to cover with curtains as they can not impede the movement of the door as it opens. Another issue is that there were three planes along which there were windows, I needed to find a solution to allow the curtains to be useful, allow the Nana wall to be opened, and look stylish.
As a solution I designed a single curtain wall that was split in two, but moved along a single track, allowing the curtain to cover the entire span of the windows, or to be stacked off the wall out of the way of the Nana wall when opened up. For this application I used a dark black plum coloured semi sheer cloth with a heavy texture to fragment the view outside and shade the interior from the incredible sun (Sunny Tsawassen remember). The heavy weight of the cloth lets the drapery hang beautifully... and two years later they look better than when new!

Here you can see the panels, one stacked at the corner and the other stacked around the corner. We also covered the light fixture in the same cloth. Nice detail.
