Silk Water

Whenever we work with silk we steam the entire piece of fabric to reduce the residual shrinkage. Once in a while you meet a fabric which startles you, challenges you and makes you think a little harder about what you are doing. In this case the beautiful silk stripe started to shrink into little rippling little waves across the fabric. Normally there would be panic but this effect was so beautiful we opted to keep it and make the bedding anyway... it was a stunning result.
The waves the silk forms as it ripples were reminiscent of water....
