Institutionalize ME!

So faithful readers of our blog (all 12 of you) will remember the absolutely harrowing ordeal I went through last year upholstering hundreds of seats for BCIT's Student Hall. It was harrowing for many reasons...
It was too hot
There wasn't enough space or time
The beer was good but not cold enough
My hands were destroyed by the coarse fabric.
Nevertheless I healed and went back for more.... I love having clients like BCIT. They understand the value of longevity, and therefore they understand my work. They know that a cheap price often yeilds a cheap product, and no they didn't learn this in one of their courses, they learned it the hard way... as we all do! In the case of institutional seating however it is critical that the right fabrics, foams, support materials are selected for the job, due to the huge costs involved changing them is no small feat... So they do it right once...every twenty years or so....
I digress... this year, they contacted us to replace another 80 seats and this time they wanted them in green.... Our team went to work sourcing fabrics, ordering and assembling foam, cutting plywood, glueing, cutting, sewing, upholstering.... so simple!

Carly came along with me to install all the seats.... here are all the frames awaiting dressing...

Despite having no previous experience with installing BCIT style seating, Carly made quick work of them, while I attended the on campus coffee shop for an impromptu theater class on dating.

As I returned to the scene of the install... in progress... I realized I had left Carly's coffee at the counter in the coffee shop... oh well! Seems like she was getting along fine  without me, so I went for lunch... Did you know the cafeteria at BCIT serves some of the most amazing processed meals you can find anywhere?

Finally Carly finished.... I take most of the credit, mostly because I look like I work hard, especially with those black gloves on... but we all know the truth!

Mwah!
