Jen's Holy Noren

Noren are used in homes, restaurants and public spaces to divide and occlude. Often times made from hemp, linen flax, with dyed or stitched handwork. Our more techno/industrial version is actually a window covering. Designed in banners, with our beautiful Points of Light treatment, in a random all over fashion, but only at eye level. The material is a charcoal wisp with a beautiful vertical stria creating a quiet softness, the charcoal adding an eeriness to the room.  All photos taken by Tiffany May, a talented photographer whom along with Anna and I was responsible for making the noren. Who better than her to shoot them?

Close up detail of the banners, each banner is created by hand, with each grommet placed by hand.

A view of one of the windows.

It happens the light arrives conveniently at our shoot, at exactly the right height... Thank you.
