Why Yoga?

Last year I was commissioned by local super yoga studio FLOW YYOGA in Yaletown, to design and manufacture some furniture for their new flagship location. This was a big deal for me because it was the first time our L7 seating was going to be used in a commercial setting. Our modular furniture was selected for the following reasons...

1. Low environmental impact. Flow Wellness' mandate is to leave the earth in a better condition than they found it, so everything in their wellness centres are eco friendly and have as low an environmental impact as possible. Our furniture is constructed from 70% recycled materials, including the cover cloth which is a recycled leather product made from the left over and waste of the leather industry and manufactured to full OEKETEX standards.
2. Extreme Wearability. Flow YYOGA have about 500 people come through their studio daily, the furniture gets a LOT of use. L7 seating is designed to require zero maintenance outside of cleaning. There are no cushions to fluff, no zippers, frame issues, NOTHING. The L7 is designed to offer years of trouble free service thereby increasing the value to the end user immeasurably. The materials used are designed for a minimum 15 year  daily wear cycle with the foams and fillers topping out around 35 years. Our pieces are designed for extreme wear and are built to withstand virtually any calamity!
3. Cost effectiveness. Ravi Design doesn't build anything unless it is going to last for a long time! Initial outlay of dollars far outweighs the long term costs considering the low maintenance, high wearability and timeless detailing.
4. Local Artisan. Ravi Design is Vancouver based, virtually everything in our furniture pieces is sourced locally, manufactured locally and with the exception of the fabric all materials are manufactured within a 40 mile radius of our shop! Even our foams are poured for us locally. We are committed to not only being responsible to our planet, but more importantly being responsible to our local economies and fellow business partners. YYOGA understands this and committed to having their furniture designed and fabricated by a local artisan rather than importing cheap offshore knockoffs.

In the coming weeks we will be showcasing more of our work and the feedback we have had from our furniture now that it has been installed and in use for over a year, but for now here is a recent image from the relaxation lounge, where our furniture provides countless beautiful posteriors the chance to chillax in extreme comfort... :)
