Big Curtains...

Installing our work has to be one of my favourite parts of being in this business. I truly enjoy sewing and cutting and planning the curtains, but there is a sense of completion when you see your hard work hanging in the home of your client. Installs are often arduous and complicated, involving tools and techniques from many trades, all of which we have had to acquire along the way. Early on I realized how valuable it was to actually install the work ourselves, understanding installation helped me better understand my work, understanding the limitations of the install has allowed me to bend the rules and innovate taking my work to a whole new level.
At this recent install Anna and I were hanging a HUGE curtain in a loft apartment downtown. We had to design the curtain to be proportioned to the space, and hang from a track that was simple, strong and reliable. Throw a concrete ceiling into the mix and we have a party. Our solution was a commercial grade track mounted against the ceiling, the ultra smooth motion of the gliders allows the HUGE curtain to be moved effortlessly.
More pictures of the completed project to follow.
