Understanding volume is very important when trying to design curtains. Most drapery follows a certain form; pleats folds, long organized lengths of cloth... you know the routine. When one sets out to design a curtain the simplest and most effective way of altering perception is by playing with volume, creating depth and texture or depth or texture....
In this example I set out to create random texture and random form. I started by crinkling a piece of linen, wetting it and clamping it between two pieces of plywood.
A week later I took my makeshift clamp apart and lo and behold we had texture.

We made several samples, this was more organized...
We decided that they were better suited to scarves than curtains... at least at this time.
