A Most Challenging Install.... Again!

Oh Boy, this has been the decade of challenging! Like really challenging. Installations are an integral part of our work. See most designers or suppliers of curtains view the installation as a necessity but not as an integral part of the actual design process. Most will spend hours picking appropriate fabrics, fancy pleats, etc, but give little or no thought to the actual hanging of the curtain or window covering... Sad but true.....
At Ravi Design we reverse engineer every single project, that's why everything we do looks so freaking amazing! A few years ago we were commissioned to design some shades... look here...
BOINK!
Fast forward a few years... and we are replacing the old with the new. The condo was sold, the new clients prefer something cleaner, the old shades were ruined by leaky windows... So we obliged of course, re-engineering the whole system from the ground up using new fabric, new suspension systems, new mechanisms but with old hands...

Above you can see the old shades, they have been ruined by the sun, the rain, the leaky windows.

Removing the shades was a huge job, not only was the ladder positioned in a very precarious spot but the windows were filthy, imagine doing yoga at the top of a twenty foot ladder in 30 degree heat among bug skeletons, dust and other alien life forms.

No that's not Bane from the Batman movie, it's me... I know how similar we look. The dust on these shades was laden with debris of all manner.

This was one window sill of 9! LOOK AT THE BUG SKELETONS! One of them looks like an alien head!

Here I am beginning the installation of the new shades. I cleaned all the windows and started the install.

Another view of the same....

Here you can see the new and the old! The new shades are flat, the old shades were flounced or hobbled. I loved the old ones, but I think the new ones offer a cleaner more contemporary style.... :)

More Yoga!

Wow, finished! How lovely!

  1. As always, your work takes my breath away! (standing on that ladder would literally take MY breath away - I don't do heights, especially since I am fighting vertigo).I love the new flat shades - a very clean look.
