In Praise of Grey

We have been decorating a home in North Vancouver for some months. The home owners are avid art collectors and live life in a way that is most inspiring. I am very grateful to have their patronage, we created a multitude of delicious window coverings in their home, all centered around a simple palette of white and grey, with natural materials and their eclectic collection of art peppered throughout. The homeowners mixed new with old and created a home that really speaks to their taste.
We used natural textiles throughout the home. All the soft furnishings were made in simple honest textiles chosen for their warmth and softness. There is an absence of pattern but an abundance of texture. All of the curtains were made to the highest level of quality and designed in a way to look and function effortlessly.
What I really love about this home is the tactile quality of their lifestyle. There doesn't seem to be the attitude of disposability and that every piece is cherished. I loathe the "everything new" look of homes these days. Homes have personality, people have personality. My job is to create curtains with personality that reflects the home they live in... I think I had a great canvas to start here.
:)

There is a continuity in the colour palette in this room. Decorating rooms and physical spaces should be akin to designing a work of spatial art, there needs to be significance, relativity, scale. Not Trends.

Oh My! I love these curtains. Look at how effortlessly they fall into their folds, it feels like a sculpture.

We specialize in making vast curtain walls. This particular curtain is a soft washed vintage linen in a heavy weight. Thanks to our new hemming system our curtains are perfectly straight, every single time.
So unlike all those men you dated in college, our curtains look amazing AND perform well in the bedroom too!

Colour is a delightful way to explore our emotions. This room has grey sheers which in themselves is unusual, but helps not only create a somber setting for the artowrk but offer a neutral diffusion of light.
