Check Out My Rack!!!

No, this is not some cheezy rate my body part type post.... this is a new feature on our blog talking about our infamous curtain rack. As you savvy blog readers know already from reading every one of our posts dilligently I have been very silent lately. I think most people have ebbs and flows in their lives in various different ways... mine definitely are very strong. I find focus on certain aspects of work and life change from time to time and it's really important to honour those things. Well I do love blogging, especially about curtains but I also want to expand my blog onto topics that are a little outside the norm. Our little company has undergone massive changes in the last year and it has been truly an exhausting and rewarding and frustrating journey. I suppose like too little jam for too many toasts I have been feeling spread a little thin... more in the future but for now I really want to just get to what makes me happy... curtains!

Wool! Is it any surprise that with the cold weather arrives wool in abundance?
No. Not at all. On the rack now we have about 200 yards of wool waiting to be installed or hung with another hundred or so in production. In the foreground are some amazing wool tweed curtains waiting to be installed in a well appointed and spacious man cave. Wool hangs perfectly... straight and even. Like this...

Above you can see the even soft folds wool falls into, the real beauty behind this wool is it's high quality and its colour. Pure White.

One of the hallmarks of our curtains are the hand picked side hems. There is something gentle and simple in handsewing. Like the natural elements we surround ourselves with like wood and stone and water, timeless craft has a place in our lives that cannot be substituted by artifice or speed. Consider that these curtains when they are done will have thousands of stitches holding them together, each of them placed individually and by hand, meticulously and purposefully. There is something so satisfying there for me...

Controlling fullness is what its all about... a whole new pleat style is born! These soft modern pleats were designed with this wool and these curtains and the magnificent home they will rest inside in mind, all of it.

A visit to the rack would not be complete if it didn't include linen. I made these curtains for a young boys room from our very own Vintage Luxe Linen from our  own line of Belgian linens... incorporating a rivet detail at the top to match the hardware and the details throughout the home. Another simple detail which adds so much in such a small way!

And lastly we have Sheers! Charcoal grey linen sheer, again from our own line of Belgian linens.... Linen sheers are my personal favorite. The texture, the hang, the softness the open weave dappling light and creating a textured pointilist landscape beyond...
